Branch Manager / Business Development

Position Summary:

The Branch Manager is responsible for performing supervisory and administrative functions to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of branch operations. The Branch Manger promotes the bank's products and services to cultivate new customer relationships, manages the customer service experience, and ensures conformance with established Kaw Valley Bank ("Bank") policies, strategies, and procedures.  The Branch Manager will also control expenses, coordinate the efforts of staff to ensure branch and bank goals and objectives are met, and contribute to the overall strategic plan.  The position contributes to the overall growth, stability, and profitability of the Bank and performs all functions accurately to safeguard the bank's assets. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Promotes a superior service environment which optimal delivery of the bank's products and services in conformance with established policies, procedures, and strategies.
  • Responsible for executing the bank's strategic plan contributing to the overall growth, stability, and profitability of the Branch.
  • Creates and implements strategies and/or activities to improve productivity and sales performance in efforts to achieve the financial targets of the branch.
  • Generates new deposit business and primary banking relationships for Kaw Valley Bank through prospecting, outside calling, networking, and referrals (both internal and external). 
  • Works directly with operations to onboard new Treasury Management services.
  • Builds, develops, and maintains profitable customer relationships by identifying business practices/needs and recommending solutions that support the achievement of the business' financial goals.
  • Builds and maintains customer relationships in the community through networking events, including after hours as well as during business hours.
  • Ensures accurate, efficient, and effective delivery of services by assigned staff.
  • Provides ongoing training, coaching, development, counseling, and motivation for branch personnel to ensure branch objectives are met.
  • Schedules and directs workflow for full-time and part-time employees which includes providing staff coverage to ensure the branch runs efficiently.  Coordinates with other branches locations to provide staffing coverage when needed.
  • Responsible for hiring, onboarding, administering corrective actions up to and including termination.
  • Evaluates staff's work performance by preparing annual review and recommending salary increases.
  • Provides training to staff to ensure adherence to the bank's policies and procedures and conducts periodic staff meetings.
  • Performs required audits, internal control reviews, and general branch administration processes unique to the main branch location.
  • Performs addition duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years of experience in the banking industry.
  • Proven knowledge of Bank policies and procedures.
  • Possess a working knowledge of all teller, customer service functions and banking operations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally through both verbal and written skills with customers in English.
  • Proficient computer experience with advanced knowledge of various computer programs necessary to open accounts along with the ability to operate a 10-key calculator with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to organize, multi-task, plan and set priorities to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to utilize resources and assess the situations to make sound judgements.
  • Ability to effectively work with both internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate good work habits, maintain a professional appearance and attitude and follow policies and procedures.
  • Must project a friendly, courteous, patient, and professional image at all times, even under adverse conditions.
  • Demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations.

Physical Conditions:

  • Ability to read computer screens and email, mail and talk on the phone.  Ability to read correspondence and answer phone calls.
  • Work involves standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Work may include occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing 20+ pounds.
